Tree trimming and pruning is the most common practice in the tree care industry. Trees in forests require very little pruning. However, urban trees require scheduled maintenance, such as trimming, pruning and shaping throughout their life cycle.
Structural pruning is necessary (especially for young trees) to reduce co-dominating stems and to remove undesirable branches (such as crossover limbs). This practice continues as the tree matures - along with the proper removal of any dead wood, decayed branches, sucker growth, cutting away from the structure, separation from other trees or plants, along with establishing a balanced limb level height.
Fine pruning is 'the next level up' from ordinary, common tree pruning. Fine tree pruning is usually any or all of the following techniques:

- it's the raising of limbs to clear a height and enhance lawn growth beneath trees.
- it's the shaping of fruit and pine trees.
And lastly, fine pruning is the removal and disposal of all non-essential tree debris.
